Savannah's sidewalks spring to life at 2018 Sidewalk Arts Festival

Watch as brilliant SCAD artists bring a splash of color to scenic Forsyth Park at the 37th annual Sidewalk Arts Festival. SCAD students, alumni and high school students create colorful chalk masterpieces and compete for coveted prizes in this tradition nearly as old as the university itself.

Neon honey bees and a city map. It was a long day and my hands were stained, but it was so great to see Forsyth Park come to life with so many decorated sidewalk squares! Until next year.

other people's bodies by Patricia Hecht

A group exhibition curated by MFA painter Zara Bell. This collaborative show includes work from undergraduate, graduate students, and professors. Exploring the phrase 'other people's bodies' with a range of mediums and stylistic variations in the work the show has become much like a body itself. On view upstairs in the back of Alexander Hall until May 11.

Cushing Academy Arts Affinity Alumni Show by Patricia Hecht

Cushing Academy's (Ashburnham, MA) Inaugural Arts Affinity Alumni Show is a collaboration featuring three Cushing graduates that have not only Cushing in common, but Savannah, GA as well. , Abbie May Hastings (06), Patricia K. Hecht (04), and Roz Morris.

Hastings utilizes her surroundings and brings a natural element into her jewelry, using stones and antlers as part of her material.

Hecht is a painter, though not in the most traditional sense incorporating technology and various design elements into her work.

Morris' focus lies in design and fibers, creating images and translating them to her clothing line.

Opening reception is Friday June 9th, 2017 4-6pm during Alumni Weekend, in the gallery at the Emily Fischer Landau Center for the Arts.

Cushing Academy, Carol Johnson, Joan Hathaway, Deb Gardner, and of course Bob Johnson, were there for the start of Hecht's early creative career, first as teachers and later as mentors and colleagues. It is with great honor she is returning to exhibit on the walls of the Emily Fischer Landau Center for the Arts this spring.
